We have a medium sized garden, which we enjoy working in and retiring to. **Marion Appleby** I was born in the 1950s at Ipswich Hospital. I lived in Washbrook;Wenham and attended Copdock Primary School. We then moved to Bentley and I was educated at East Bergholt and Holbrook High Schools, then started work at the Roy al Hospital School, Holbrook, in their laundry department. I got married in 1974 but separated from my husband in 1993. We had one son Shaun. After Shaun's birth I went to work at Holbrook High School. For several years now I have been employed by Suffolk County Council as a care assistant at Clench House, (the old people's home) at Holbrook. I moved from Bentley to Harkstead some sixteen years ago with my then husband but have since met James. My hobbies include - knitting, bingo, watching speedway and pets (I used to have two dogs but now have three cats). **Shaun Appleby** I was born in 1974 at Heath Road Hospital. I lived in Shotley with my grandparents, who brought me up. I attended Chelmondiston Primary School and was then educated at Holbrook High School. I then attended Otley College to train as an Agricultural Mechanic. I then moved on to work as a postman in Shotley before going to work as a distribution driver with the Royal Mail where I am currently employed. My hobbies include - cars, fishing, football (playing and watching), golf, speedway and general socialising with my friends. **James Gooderham** I was born in the 1960s in Ipswich Hospital. I lived in Barn Cottages, Lower Holbrook until my sister was born in 1968, when we moved to New Lane, Holbrook where I was brought up. I attended Holbrook Primary School and then educated at Holbrook High School. I left school at sixteen and went straight into full time employment at Reed Hall, Holbrook as a gardener/handyman. I attended Otley College on day release from Reed Hall to obtain my City and Guilds in Horticulture. I was employed at Reed Hall for ten years before moving to the Royal Hospital School Grounds Department as a Chargehand Groundsman. I have been there for the past ten years. I like Harkstead, as it is, a lovely little quiet village. Just how village life should be. Most of the people are friendly and helpful when you need them. I used to play darts at The Baker's Arms but stopped playing a few years ago to concentrate on my other hobbies. These include DIY, gardening and bingo but my favourite one of all is travelling the length and breadth of England to support the Ipswich Witches Speedway Team and spending many hours driving, which I enjoy as well. I also like to be outside in the garden (this is where Marion will always find me) pottering about as often as possible! As we are now in the new Millennium I cannot see a lot of things changing in the world, as we know it. If we could somehow see the end to all the racism, an end to all the many murders we hear about all the time and help to the Third World even more today and everyday; then perhaps (just perhaps) the world would be a better place to live in. `View scan from original book <../_static/individual/3_river_view_road.pdf>`_ `View text <../_sources/individual/3_river_view_road.rst.txt>`_
